Organization Overview
United Way’s WeCare program connects qualifying individuals with medical services free of charge through a large network of volunteer providers including LeeHealth and numerous physician corporate entities. Last year 401 providers donated $6,388,344 in essential medical care. The program is contracted through the Florida Department of Health Voluntary Health Care Provider Program (VHCPP).
Applicants must be referred to the program by a provider, hospital, or specialist and have a severe medical condition that cannot be managed by a primary care provider. Applicants must qualify as 200% under the federal poverty limit, have no health insurance, and must be a Lee or Hendry County resident. Other eligibility requirements may apply.
